This proves to be your ticket for the way to install an OTA update manually. You can simply download the update’s file and then by sideloading on your phone you can ensure having the update done.

But the point to be noted is that this isn’t possible without having the .zip file. So make sure you grab one.

Before proceeding to the installation guide below are some pre-requirements make sure you follow all of them.


  • Bootload Should be unlocked.
  • Make Sure you have the stock recovery installed. Note:- Custom recoveries like TWRP Recovery and CMW, etc. this process might not work.
  • Make Sure You have ADB drivers installed on your PC.
  • Make Sure you have right USB Driver installed on PC.

Method 1:- Install OTA Update Using Sideload

Note:- First of all check Pre-Requirements.

Step 1:-  Install ADB Drivers on Your Windows/Mac. [/su_highlight]Click Here[/su_highlight]

Step 2:- Download the Right OTA on your Pc/Laptop and rename it to

Step 3:- Enable USB debugging. To do that.

  • Step 1:- Navigate to Setting –> Developer Options and Enable OEM Unlocking.

    Step 2:-. If You not able to Find Developer Options, Don’t worry Follow this easy Steps.

    Step 3:- Setting –> About Phone –> Software Info –> Tap 7 time on Build Number. You will See developer Mode is Enable.

Step 4:- Connect your Android Device to PC/Mac.

Step 5:- Now open the command prompt window in the Fastboot folder by Pressing Left Shift + Right Click and Select  Open Command Window Here.

Step 6:- Now boot your Phone into recovery mode Using this command

For Windows:- Adb reboot Recovery 

For Mac:- ./Adb reboot Recovery

Step 7:- Once in stock Recovery mode, Select the Apply update from ADB option.

Step 8:- Now use the following command to begin the OTA update installation.

For Windows:- adb sideload

For Mac:- ./adb sideload

Step 9:- Once the Update Zip AKA OTA zip installed.

Step 10:- Now select reboot from the main menu of stock recovery.

Method 2: Install OTA update from stock recovery

Note:- First of all check Pre-Requirements.

Step 1:- Now Download and move the OTA file to your Android Phone’s internal storage.

Note:- Don’t Put file inside any folder.

Step 2:- Now Boot Your Android device into recovery mode.

Step 3:- Once you are in stock recovery mode, use volume buttons to navigate down and up and Power button to choose an option.

Step 4:- choose the Apply Update from internal storage. 

Step 5:- Select OTA file, which you moved.

Step 6:- Now simply install it.

Step 7:- Once the process is finished, choose reboot from the stock recovery main menu.

  • Done!!! Your Android device should have the latest updated Version.

    I want to root my Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro which has latest MIUI stable. I try thru MIFlashTool which show rooted by physically my phone remain un-rooted. Please help and if there is 3rd party tools apk to do this job let me know… Thanks in advance and waiting for your reply…. Have a nice day….
